Sennheiser’s RS 175 takes home entertainment to the next level, offering an incredible range of capabilities in a compact, ergonomic form so you can get the most out of your music and television. Sennheiser’s RS 175 is a wireless headphone ideally paired with every home’s entertainment system. The RS 175 has exceptional sound quality. It allows its users to watch TV shows or movies and listen to music conveniently and without distractions. Its closed-back, around-ear design will provide comfort to its users for a long time with its 18-hour battery life.
The Bass Boost and Surround Sound RS 175 listening modes of the Sennheiser RS 175 will let you appreciate your home entertainment system like never before. The former mode boosts audio bass response while the two virtual surround modes provide a more dimensional and livelier surround sound.
Furthermore, as you travel from room to room, the revolutionary digital wireless technology ensures that signal transmission stays clear and accurate. The RS 175’s user-friendly design makes it simple to set up and use. Nothing will distract you from an amazing audio experience because of the major built-in controls on the headphones. The comfortable fit is great for extended periods of use.
The RS 175 offers its users a sound quality with utmost clarity. It features two listening modes. The Bass Boost listening mode allows the user to adjust the bass response. And the Surround Sound listening mode allows the user to experience a more surround sound quality.
The all-black appearance of the Sennheiser RS 175 headphones is attractive and elegant. The well-cushioned over-ear earpads are comfortable with the impressive build quality. The headband’s padding is divided into two portions to make room for the recharging connection point. But it can impose a touch too much pressure on the head over long durations of listening.
You can find the volume controls and buttons for altering Bass mode and Surround settings on the exterior panel of the right earcup (more on those in the next section). Along the side of the earcup are a Power button and an indicator LED. It powers up the headphones also lights up an indicator on the charging base station.
The cradle/transmitter build quality is also functional. It’s an upright tower that supports the headphones, with Surround and Bass mode controls on the front panel and a status LED. On the back, you’ll find an optical cable for connecting digital audio from your home cinema system and a 3.5mm analog input for connecting sources like a smartphone or computer. A switch on the back panel selects the two inputs in the transmitter, and cables for each are included.
However, the 3.5mm headphone jack connector may be too big for your phone or tablet case. My only major criticism about the cradle’s design is that it’s rather light, and despite a curved base that keeps it stable, it appears fairly simple to knock over. If you have many thumbs, you might want to keep the cradle out of the way.
The Sennheiser RS 175’s digital transmission quality is practically superb, and it’s easy to forget you’re listening to wireless headphones. The headphones use frequency response modulation over 2.4-2.8GHz to transmit audio fed to the charging base to the headphones.
It supports analog and digital audio outputs within the range of 100m.
The transmitter of these amazing wireless headphones also has a multi-receiving function which allows supporting up to two pairs of headphones all at once. This wireless headphone has an antenna that serves as a cradle for charging and as a dock station. With these wireless headphones, you can enjoy wireless audio like a pro.
Two AAA batteries powers the headphones. It’s hidden beneath the twist-off earpads of each earcup. The base station or transmitter for the RS 175 recharges the batteries via contacts on the underside of the headband. When the headband is atop the charging dock base station, it instantly starts charging. The estimated battery life is said to be up to 18 hours by Sennheiser. But your volume settings will play a big role in how long they survive.
The Sennheiser RS 175 is a wireless headset designed for home theater applications that provides a superior wireless audio experience. It’s a capable set of wireless headphones, complete with a dedicated charging station and transmitter. It accepts both analog and digital inputs from your home theater components. It’s only for home use, and instead of Bluetooth or another mobile-friendly standard, it uses its modulating transmitter. With brilliant highs and deep lows, as well as the option to add extra bass, the sound character is incredibly sculpted.
The RS 175 comes with:
The listening modes are an excellent feature of the RS 175. I love how I can switch from the Bass Boost mode to the Surround Sound mode with ease.
