The IE20 just feels right when it sits in your ear unlike most other earbuds that wrap around your ear. They are very lightweight as well. When I first put the earphones against my ear, the cup fit me straight out of the box. I didn’t have to switch the cup sizing inside earbud. So bravo to Anker for that. Which a strong, firm fit, there was no movement on the earbud when I went out running.
I was able to use the headphones for over 3 months at my office before I completed this review. Im stoked that they are very affordable and I am not paying way too much just for the brand.
Design and Build
Like I mentioned in the introduction, the Anker Soundbuds Sport IE20 is one heck of a comfortable earbud. Its earbuds are attached to a short cable that goes behind your neck. It’s lightweight and is guaranteed tangle-free.
Both of the actual earbuds are connected by a small short cord that fits comfortable either in front or back of your neck. The cord didn’t give me any rashes or wear on my clothing.
The box of the Anker IE20 is a professionally designed wireless headphone and leaves you with an impression that you made the right choice when researching what earbuds to buy. A very positive feature that I like when I purchase in-ear headphones is the different sizing of the earcups. As everyone has different ear sizes, it can be frustrating when the earbud doesn’t fit in your ear. The actual clips that stick to your ear aren’t very necessary unless you are doing an activity that requires a lot of movement like skydiving or go-karting.
Alongside the earbud on the right-hand side is a small plastic remote control. On here you can easily change the volume from loud to quiet and also start and stop. All of these changes come from the Bluetooth that is built into the earbuds. I was easily able to pair the noise-isolating ear tips with my Apple laptop in order to use them in a coffee shop. The whole pairing process took about 15 seconds.
A standoff design feature that I truly enjoyed was the magnetic clamp on the back of each earbud. When they are closed together, the earbuds shut off. It’s amazing. This feature also allows the earbuds to be transferred easily in your pocket.
On the actual remote, you can see either red or blue dots beeping. These dots indicate the Bluetooth signal on your headphone. If the earbud is connected to Bluetooth and turned on, you will see a blue button.
Don’t worry if the default ear tip makes you uncomfortable. It has extra ear tips included in the package. The headphone comes with extra semi-open and noise isolating ear tips. Use the semi-open ear tips (S/M) if you still want to hear your surroundings while listening to music. You can also use the noise-isolating ear tips (S/M/L/XL) to block out the noise from the environment. You can also find in the package a FitClip so you can adjust the length of the neckband. There are also three pairs of in-ear hooks to keep the earbuds in place.
To enjoy its balanced wireless audio streaming, stream your music from the audio source through the Bluetooth 4.1 connection. It features an aptX codec to produce a CD-quality audio even on Bluetooth. The sound performance is perfectly balanced wherein you can listen to any genre of music with satisfaction.
One of the only issues I had with this wireless earbud is the overall sound quality. I would give it a 3.5/5. Like anything in life, you get what you pay for. If you are into sound, you should probably look to up your budget.
For important incoming calls, the Anker Soundbuds Sport IE20 Wireless Headphones have a built-in microphone with a CVC 6.0 noise cancellation features.
With this innovative technology, you can have clearer communication from the other line. It effectively eliminates almost all of the background noise.
The Anker Soundbuds Sport IE20 wireless headphone boasts of giving off music lovers with continuous playtime that lasts up to 8 hours. One plus about this headphone is that it quickly charges up after 1.5 hours of charging. It also gives you another 8 hours of great music experience. Keep in mind that the playtime may differ depending on your usage.
The earbuds charge very easily and you can use them on and off without power problems. My particular earbuds have run out of juice, however I was using them all day on a long train ride. The magnetic stick of the two earbuds together really helps to let me know that the earbuds are turned off too. Sometimes you can forget to turn your earbuds off and just leave the battery running.
The Anker IE20 earbuds come with a simple USB charger. I like to keep a extra set up cheaper earbuds with me so I can switch them out as the battery runs out.
The Anker Soundbuds Sports IE20 Wireless Headphones help me enjoy clear conversations through their microphone technology. Its audio production is at its best considering its low price. It quickly recharges after using all of its battery juice.

Since the Anker IE20 is very lightweight, you can use the earbuds for many occasions. I recently brought them on a recent international flight that lasted for 14 hours. The earbuds did a great job in blocking out the noise around me. I was able to get a really nice sleep in with them on. You can also use the earbuds for doing physical activities like biking or running. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week and always make sure to have the IE20 model with me. For the price, you can’t complain if they get crunched in your gym bag.
Anker has been known to provide mid-level quality headphones at an affordable price. I hope this review of the Anker Soundbuds IE20 really helps you when you are thinking of your next purchase.
